Brie Blackman

For as long as I can remember music, dance and the arts have been the focal points of my life and happiness. As a little girl I took numerous dance classes including jazz, ballet and hip-hop, all of which kept me happily moving and grooving. As time moved on and I matured into a young lady, my love for music took over and I began strumming the strings of the cello. For the next 10 years it was my cello that made my heartstrings dance, but it wasn’t long until a new passion would enter my life. Around the time I was 17 I began to take art classes at my high school in Colorado. It was here that my creativity really began to expand. It took only one year of art class for me to decide that my destiny was art school, and so here I am in Kansas City. In the mean time my love for music and dance continued to thrive as I found myself inside the hoop spinning and dancing with the utmost love and passion. The moment I stepped foot into this new world of dance, the hoop pulling, twisting, dancing around me, I was immediately captivated. With a past teaching history in the arts I couldn’t help but think how much fun it would be to teach and share my passion for hoop dance with the world around me and so that is just what I’ll do. This world of creativity and dance we have created for ourselves is such a vital part of our human nature, and from it evolves the world of beauty and individuality, the coming of our selves. Our thoughts are constantly changing, and progressing. It is through this exploration of the endless cycle of art and creation that we are connected together in the CIRCLE of one and all.

With love to all,

Brie Blakeman (hoop dancer/ instructor)
